ABOUT THE ROYSTER SERIES

In 1975 Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Royster, Jr. created and established The Royster Lecture Series in memory of Dr. Royster's parents, the late Thomas Sampson Royster and Helen Borda Royster, beloved and faithful members of First Presbyterian Church of Henderson, North Carolina.

Over the years the Royster Series has become one of the most outstanding preaching series in the area. The Royster Memorial Fund was established to help bring some of the best preaching in the world to Henderson and Vance County. The intent is not to hear long and tightly argued intellectual presentations. It is not an academic or scholarly masterpiece that is desired, nor is it intended to have an evangelical presentation with a call for repentance or revivalist emotions.

The Royster Series seeks to host the best presentations of the claims of the Christian Faith to lay people who are serious about seeking to be disciples at the start of the 21st century. The Series is intended to be ecumenical in nature, and to be a time and a place where all interested people in the area may come together in a very special kind of
worship.
